Khutwa has no account and no server, so most of what you need is inside the app. For everything else, write to us and a person replies, usually within a few days.

Steps are not being counted
- On iPhone, Khutwa needs the Motion & Fitness permission. Settings › Privacy & Security › Motion & Fitness › Khutwa.
- On Android, it needs Physical activity. Health Connect is optional: if you decline it, Khutwa falls back to the phone's own pedometer, then to GPS distance, then to manual entry.
- A walk that was never started can still be logged afterwards from the Today tab. On iPhone the pedometer keeps about seven days of history.
The route is not drawn, or arrival is not detected
- Khutwa uses the while using the app location permission and never asks for always. The route and the arrival need it granted for the duration of a walk you started.
- In dense city streets the signal can drop; the route shows the gap as a dotted line and the distance falls back to a step-length estimate. Your steps are still counted.
- The arrival radius for a mosque is adjustable when you edit the place.
Reminders do not arrive
- Reminders are scheduled on the phone by the operating system, so they need the Notifications permission, and each reminder can be switched off individually in Settings.
- The leave-by time comes from the mosque's khutbah time, the distance from home, and your own pace. If it looks wrong, check the khutbah time you entered for the mosque: the calculated Dhuhr is only a default. Look up khutbah times on the mosque sheet fills it from the timetable your mosque publishes on Mawaqit, if it publishes one.
I could not walk this Friday
- Mark the Friday excused from the Today tab, for any reason. You are never asked what it was, and an excused week keeps your run intact.
Exporting or erasing your data
- Export in Settings gives you a JSON file through your phone's share sheet.
- Erase all data in Settings removes the places, Fridays and walks, clears the settings and the mosque-search cache, and cancels scheduled reminders. Deleting the app removes everything it stored. There is nothing held elsewhere for us to delete.
A translation reads wrong
- Settings › help improve this translation opens your own mail app with the language code in the subject. Sacred texts are never machine-translated, but interface strings in sixteen of the languages are still under native review, and every correction is welcome.
A mistake in a sacred text
If you find an error in a hadith, a translation, a citation or a grading, please tell us first. Sacred content is held to a higher standard than anything else in the app, and a correction ships as a point release without waiting for anything else. Include the screen, the language, and what the text should say, with its source.
